At MAN Diesel & Turbo, the improvement of the cost-effectiveness and environmental compatibility of engines forms the focus of our research and development work. We are aware of our responsibility towards the environment, and we are working intensively on reducing our engines’ emissions even further through technical improvements and measures inside and outside the engine. We are presenting the various projects and initiatives in this portal.
MAN Diesel & Turbo is profiting two-fold from globalisation: around half of the world’s goods transport is powered by MAN Diesel & Turbo engines. At the same time, our engines deliver energy, primarily in countries without a central power supply system or on islands. On this background, we believe we are obliged to pay particular attention to protecting the environment and to offer our customers the technologies that allow them to do this.
To ensure that the market accepts our products, however, we always also keep a close eye on the economic aspect as well as the ecological component. We want to enable our customers to implement environmental protection cost-effectively. This way, we are creating the ideal prerequisites for the eco-friendly operation of the engines and systems of tomorrow. Furthermore, we have also developed retrofit models that enable existing engines to be adapted to meet the standards of the future.
Sustainability is part of our corporate mission statement. The orientation towards the principles of sustainability is enshrined in the MAN Group’s Guiding Principles and is therefore also applicable to MAN Diesel & Turbo:
“The scarcity of resources and the responsibility for future generations make sustainability an obligation to us. We ensure that our products and manufacturing processes conform to the requirements of sustainable development. During the very development of products we see to it that burdens on the environment originating from the manufacture, use and disposal of our products are kept as small as possible. In our Sustainability Report we regularly provide detailed information about individual developments.”
